Fishing Lures for the Gulf Coast

The original Buggs jig head is the perfect design for fishing the Gulf Coast, from Texas to Florida and all the way the Atlantic to the Carolinas. We use a premium black nickel hook that stands up to the abuse dished out by the fish and the environment. We offer the head in three weights to suit the skinny water all the way to the deep channels, guts, and reefs. The head is made to always land hook point up to reduce snags. This gives the fisherman the flexibility to swim the lures, slowly bump them along the bottom, or sight cast with them. Read on to learn about the three models.

Buggs Curl-Tail Jig

The Buggs Curl-Tail Jig combines the superior action of bunny with a curl-tail grub in the colors fish love to eat! You can swim this lure, bump it along the bottom, or sight cast with it. This flexibility makes it deadly on Gulf Coast redfish, trout, flounder, snook, and just about any gamefish you’ll find! The curl tail grub enhances the action as it flutters like the tail of a baitfish. Plus we’ve tied a custom screw lock to the hook shank so the tail can be changed out when the fish tear it up.

The 1/8 oz. model can be cast with spinning or baitcast equipment, and will land softly for sight casting applications. It will fall more slowly than a soft plastic on an 1/8 oz. shad head, making it ideal for use in skinny water. The 1/4 oz. model is the most versatile, working shallow and deeper water. Both the 1/8 and 1/4 oz. models sport a 3″ tail. These lures are our best sellers, and have made a name for themselves along the Gulf Coast.

The 3/8 oz. model will cast a mile, and is newly redesigned for 2013! We’ve downsized the profile so you can sight cast with it, and it features the same 3″ grub as the lighter models. But the increased weight allows you to work the depths of the surf, intracoastal, or your favorite reef. It also excels when you need to get down through the current when the tide is ripping, or to get down to the big fish when working the birds. If you want to lengthen the profile, we offer 4″ tails in the online store and it’s a breeze to change out the smaller one!

Double Bunny Jig

The Double Bunny Jig is back, redesigned and featuring awesome new colors for 2013! It utilizes the enticing action of the double bunny tail. The profile is more streamlined than the Curl-Tail jig, making it an ideal shrimp or small baitfish imitation in Gulf Coast environments. The Double Bunny Jig excels in sight casting situations and when bumped along the bottom, where any current or movement of the rod tip makes the double bunny tail come alive!

The 1/8 oz. model can be cast with spinning or baitcast equipment, and excels when quiet presentations and shorter casts in skinny water are required. The lure lands softly, and gets to the bottom where is presents an appetizing profile of a shrimp or baitfish scurrying along the bottom. Fish go nuts for the Double Bunny jig worked this way!

The 1/4 oz. model is the most versatile, providing longer casts and the ability to work deeper water. The profile is the same, with each size sporting a 1.5″ double bunny tail. Big Bonefish, Permit, and Redfish have all fallen for this jig!

The 3/8 oz. model will cast a mile, and is newly redesigned for 2013! We’ve kept the same profile so you can sight cast with it, but the extra weight comes in handy when you need to get down to the big ones! Perfect for working the birds, the depths of the surf, intracoastal, or your favorite reef. And just like the larger curl-tail, it also excels when you need to get down through the current when the tide is ripping.

Beastie Bugg

Check out the Beastie Bugg! Our goal was to create the most innovative and effective sight casting lure ever for the Gulf Coast. Taking clues from the most effective crab patterns ever tied, we used all of our Bugg ingenuity and a perfect blend of natural and synthetic materials. The Beastie Bugg features bunny claws, an accent color and UV flash at the mouth, palmered bunny body, contrasting bunny belly, and hot tipped crazy legs. You won’t find a lure with more inherent action and that looks more alive even when sitting on the bottom!

The 1/8 oz. model can be cast with spinning or baitcast equipment, and excels when quiet presentations and shorter casts in skinny water are required. The lure lands softly, and gets to the bottom where it absolutely comes alive! Little twitches of your rod tip will send it scooting along the bottom, kicking up a puff of sand, and screaming, COME AND EAT IT!

The 1/4 oz. model is the most versatile when fishing the Gulf Coast, providing longer casts and the ability to get down to the bottom quicker in deeper water. The first ever Tarpon caught on a Bugg fell for an earlier version of this lure.

The 3/8 oz. model will cast a mile, but will land softly in sight cast situations. We’ve kept the same profile, and the extra weight comes in handy when you need to get down quickly!
